Obituary For Ms. Laura Maye

Miss Laura Bessie-Ann Maye, lovingly known as “Bet”, “Granny” and Sugermama”, the daughter of Rainey Ester Horne and George Little was born August 14, 1947 in Anson County, North Carolina. She transitioned on Sunday, September 5th, 2021 at Union County Hospice in Monroe, North Carolina.

Laura lived her early years in Anson County and was a graduate of West Deep Creek High School. She lived most of her years in Monroe, North Carolina where she became the President of The VIP members of the Monroe Lion’s Club of Union County.

She was proceeded in death by her loving mother, Rainey Horne and father, George Little.

She leaves to Cherish her memory one brother, Joseph Casper Horne of Matthews, North Carolina, one daughter, Donna Allen of Monroe, North Carolina and one son-in-law, Kapatchy Allen of Monroe, North Carolina. One grandson, Rodrick Horne of Monroe, North Caroli. Three granddaughters, Taylor Lowery of Atlanta, Georgia, Dionna Horne of Durham, North Carolina and Kayla Allen of Raleigh, North Carolina. Three great-granddaughters; Ava Adam of Durham, North Carolina, Zari Polk of Albemarle, North Carolina and Islah Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia. A host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

The Services to Honor the Life and Legacy of Ms. Maye will be on Thursday, September 9, 2021, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Family will greet family and friends on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 10:30-11:00am at Smith's Memorial Chapel.

The public viewing for Ms. Maye will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 4:30-6:30pm at Smith's Funeral Home.

Facemask/Coverings are REQUIRED to be worn at all times during the viewing, visitation and services.
