Obituary For Ossie Odell Jackson, Jr.

A memorial service for Mr. Ossie Odell Jackson, Jr. of Heflin, 67, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Willie Monroe will deliver the eulogy.

Ossie Odell Jackson, Jr., fondly known as Ojay, was the son of the late Ossie Odell Jackson, Sr. and Dorothy Lee Jackson. Ossie was born on August 16,1954, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He departed this life on September 3, 2021, at University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital.

He confessed his life to Christ and joined St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972-1974 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Ojay was the lead drummer for the all star Chocolate Buttermilk Band for over 30 years.

Ojay was preceded in death by his parents, Ossie and Dorothy Jackson; and a sister, Kathryn Jackson Lynch.

Mr. Jackson leaves to cherish his memories: his baby sister, Frances Yvette McLaurin (Willie McLaurin - former spouse); a brother-in-law, Larry B. Lynch, Sr.; three nieces, Laryce Lynch McLaughlin, Jennifer McLaurin and Kimberly Lynch; two nephews, Andrew McLaurin and Larry B. Lynch, Jr.; special family friends, Hazel Carswell and Nick Ervin; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
