Obituary For Mary "Mae" Emma Wilson

Mary Wilson, 90, of Cascade, VA died September 4,2021. Public viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Hamlin Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Mary "Mae" Emma Wilson departed this life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center in Danville, VA. She was born on May 14, 1931 to the late William McKinley Martin and Lessie Mae Casey Martin. She grew up in Cascade, VA and began her working career in the Dry Cleaners in Danville, VA. She later moved to Washington, DC and Capital Heights, MD where she worked as a Auto Mechanic. She later retired as a Delicatessen with Giant Foods Corp. Upon retirement she became a Home Interior Decorator and was very crafty with making floral arrangements. Fulfilling her promise to return home, Mary moved back to VA and joined Alpha Apostolic Faith Temple and enjoyed volunteering and serving in the ministry alongside her sisters. They were given the title "The Golden Girls" for their dedication to serving and serving together. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, doing puzzles, playing card games and laughing. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel Maxcell Martin and Dillard Martin, sisters, Fannie Lee Martin Williams and Ora Elizabeth Martin and son, Samuel D. Wilson.

She leaves to cherish: her son; Alexander Abbott of Cascade, VA, daughter; Nannie "Libby" Abbott Hairston and sister, Marjorie Ann Moyer (Russell) both of Eden, NC. Mary was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 16 great-great granchildren and a host of family.
