Sydney was born on February 16, 2000 in Decatur, TX just hours following the death of her Great-Great-Grandmother Cleo Chappell. Even then Sydney chose to arrive on her terms and in her timing.

Sydney was a 2019 graduate of Bowie High School. After graduation she worked for the Bowie Senior Center where she met Ashley Keys and who became her very good friend. Because of the pandemic Sydney had to leave the job she loved so much and began working elsewhere. She recently began working for Muenster Milling and the fire had finally come back in finding a job she loved again. She bragged about how wonderful her co-workers were and how much she enjoyed the work there. You could see the joy in her eyes as she spoke about it. Sydney’s favorite thing in the world was to be with her family and play with her siblings and cousins. Sydney was known for picking on the kids and wrestling with them. That’s what the kids loved best about her.

Sydney’s passion was streaming videos, cosplay and playing Discord on her computer. Sydney made so many wonderful friends there that she later told us felt more like family. She admired each and every one of them. After her death we found through stories and memories they share that she was more like a mom figure to them. She walked them through some of the hardest times in their lives and ministered to them in a way we might have never known if the events of her death had not led us to them. Her mom Sarah always said even as a small child that she was the light in a dark world always walking to her own beat and the music in her head. Sydney was the most loving and caring person you could ever be around and she adored her sister Lauren Claire Baumeister and her rowdy little brother Harrison Sawyer Chappell. She spent lots of time growing up with her beloved Uncle and Aunt Justin & Heather Chappell. Later she helped welcome into the world their child Hinson Chappell who she called the best cousin a person could ever have.

Sydney grew up in the home of her maternal grandparents Lowell & Vicki Chappell from an early age. She referred to them both as her Mom & Dad. She was blessed to have them as her second parents who considered her their child in every way.

Sydney is survived by her caring and loving mother Sarah Chappell and her father Brad Meyers of Bowie, TX, Sister Lauren “Smiles” Claire Baumeister & Harrison “Hurricane” Sawyer Chappell of Bowie, TX Grandparents Lowell & Vicki Chappell “aka Mom & Dad” of Bowie & Frances & Les Gholson of Bowie & Henry Meyers of Montague, TX. Her Great-Grandparents Johnnie & Fran Chappell of Henrietta, TX Uncle Justin Chappell & Aunt Heather Chappell & best cousin Hinson Chappell of Bowie. Aunt & Uncle Angie & Cory Meyers of Bowie Cousin MJ Myers of Bowie. Numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Sydney also leaves behind her beloved great dane family Waylon, Frankie, Gracie & Dottie Gail.

She is preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents Voyd & Sue Henry. Her Great-Great-Grandparents Lonnie & Babe Jones, Olan & Cleo Chappell, Ernest O’Neal & Paternal Great-Grandmother Thelma Beatrice York Goolsby.

In lieu of flowers you can make a donation in Sydney’s honor to the Bowie Senior Center or Bowie Animal Shelter.
