REFLECTION OF LIFE:

September 1, 2021 Our Ancestor Clan gathered in celebration as our heavenly father reclaimed the life of our nephew, brother, uncle, cousin and friend Joe Louis Chisolm Jr. at Fresenius Kidney Care in East Peoria, Illinois. Joe was born January 27, 1959 in Lexington, Mississippi to the parenting of Lue Pearlie (Fort) Chisolm and Joe Louis Chisolm. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers- Ernest and Edward Fort, sister-Mary Alice Chism, Nephews - Derry Chism, Tommie Greer Jr, Edward Fort, and nieces - Linda Greer, Crystal Chism and Carolyn Blue.

Joe was a simple man that enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching traffic and people go by, talking on the phone with family and friends, daily visits from his family (especially his great niece Aiyonna). He loved gardening. However, his greatest joy was sharing his stories about his days of youth. Joe attended Tchula Attendance Center in Tchula Mississippi. He confessed in Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Johnson. Joe loved the staff at Fresenius where he received dialysis and talked about them daily (especially the one he called “grand ma”). He was cared for by his sister Laverne and niece Shelecta (Shay) and would say everyday “Everybody say Joe, your sister and niece takes good care of you”.

Joe leaves to cherish his precious memories four sisters: Dorothy Greer of Lexington, MS; Laverne (Charles) Weldy of Peoria, IL; Cynthia and Carla of Detroit, MI; and one brother; Octavious of Detroit, Mi; one sister-in-law; Essie Mae Fort of Tchula MS; five aunts; Laverne Chism of Flowood MS; Clementine Barfield of Nashville TN; Maxcine Brown, Velmateen Leonard and Irene Chism all of Detroit MI; and one uncle; Luthearl Chism of Detroit, MI. Joe was very fond of all his nieces Glenda, Crystolinna, Jacqueline, Kizzie, Shelectra (Shay), and Caress. He loved his nephews Luther, Alvester, Lester and Wester, Charles, and Derrick and a special friend, Jimmy Dale Dean. Joe’s graveside service will be held in Lexington, MS at Clifton Cemetery.
