Obituary For Mr. Matthew Lawrence Woolfolk

Mr. Matthew Lawrence Woolfolk entered into rest September 2, 2021 at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia.

Matthew Lawrence “Larry” Woolfolk was born on August 18, 1962, in Montrose, Pennsylvania, to the late Matthew and Charlotte Woolfolk. He was the eldest of six children, three of which preceded him in death.

Larry was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. He graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1981, and from there he went to the United States Army, served four years, and retired in 1985.

Larry found the love of his life, Pamela Foster, during his time in the service. She also preceded him in death.

He loved all sports, especially basketball. Even though he lived in Georgia, he still was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. He served on the PTA at Southside Elementary School as a mentor for youth in education and sports. He always kept busy. Even after retirement, he worked at Kellog’s and H. H. Cutlery, and did multiple odd jobs for his family and friends doing construction.

Larry loved his family and friends. Whenever you called him, he’d respond by saying, “Yeah Babbbbby!” He was close friends with many but had a special bond with whom he’d call “Mom and Pop”, the Arnolds and “Doc” Holiday.

Larry leaves to mourn: son, Lawrence Woolfolk of Georgia; two brothers, Gregory (Tina) Woolfolk, and Joseph (Cherrish Wallace) Woolfolk, both of Georgia; one sister, Stacy (Randy Johnson) Woolfolk of Philadelphia; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingdom Full Gospel Church, 2420 Northfolk Street, Augusta, Georgia 30906.

Mask are required.

W. H. Mays Mortuary, 1221 James Brown Boulevard, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
