Larry attended Gaston County Schools. He was a 1970 graduate of Ashbrook High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. After his return home, he was employed with Mr. Nobody and Uniroyal Tire for many years as a mechanic.
As a child Larry attended Weeping Mary Baptist Church with his father. His hobbies were many, but he thoroughly enjoyed fishing, gardening and repairing cars for family and friends.
After a long courageous battle with cancer, Larry fought the good fight and finished the race. He was always optimistic with a warm and loving smile. He never complained during his illness. He loved the LORD and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
In additional to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers; Claudia and David Minor, one uncle, Arthur Lee Ashley.
He leaves cherished memories with his wife, Carolyn H. Minor of Gastonia, NC, three daughters; Bridget M. Smith (Stedman) of Shelby, NC, Iris N. Quinn (Nikki) of Gastonia, NC, Arlette Threats of Gastonia, NC, four grandchildren; Jordan A. Quinn, Cierra Patterson, Dierra Patterson, and Juan Patterson, five great-grandchildren; Aryanna Odoms, Bentley Littlejohn, Kamden Littlejohn, Elijah Edwards and Elasia Edwards, two step-daughters; Micshandia Robinson of Gastonia, NC, Tameka Pressley (Kenny) of Gastonia, NC, two brothers-in-law; Rev. Bobby Giles, (Maybelle), who was his beloved closest friend and caregiver, Rev. Tony Giles (Joyce) of Cherryville, NC, one sister-in-law; Shirley Johnson (Timothy) of Maryland, special cousin, Rev. Charles Ashley, Jr. (Angela) of Gastonia, NC, longtime friends; Ralph Foster and Elder Farley McGill, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
