Obituary For Lois Briscoe

On Wednesday afternoon, September 1, 2021, God in his infinite wisdom saw fit to take our beloved Lois Briscoe from Earth into Heaven. Lois was born on September 1,1924, in Tryon, NC, Polk County to the late John and Estella McIntire. She was the fourth child of 17 children. Lois accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and attended Green Creek Baptist Church. As a young woman Lois met Howard Briscoe, she felled in love, and married Howard on April 11, 1946. And started a family in North Carolina. Mother/Grandmother Lois was a woman who took care of everyone in her presence. As a child, she was a mother taking excellent care of her younger siblings and this continued throughout her life. Mother Lois was a stay-at-home mother for all four of her children. After the children grew up, she cleaned homes for the elderly to earn extra income for the family. Mother Lois was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She was famous for her cooking: fried chicken, chicken livers, rice and gravy, greens, cabbage, sweet potato pie, blackberry pie and so much more. She unconditionally loved her family and people according to God’s Word. She believed we needed to show God’s love to those on the outside in order to lead them to the inside. Mother/Grandmother Lois was born and raised in the Christian faith, and at the age of twelve, on her own volition, joined the Green Creek Baptist Church, Polk County, North Carolina. She was a member of the Senior Choir. Mother Lois decision to be active in the church proved to be an insightful decision that protected the family. Mother/Grandmother Lois and her husband Howard Briscoe were married over 40 years. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1987. All of her children preceded her in death. Pearlene Wood, Johnny Briscoe, Henry Junior Briscoe (Janie) and Gladys Lorene Davis.
