Obituary For Doris Froneberger

Mrs. Doris S. Froneberger, daughter of the late Clinton Smalls, Sr. and Florence Bryant Smalls, was born on St. Helena Island, South Carolina in Beaufort County on November 3, 1952. She was a Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend to many. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, September 9th of 2021.

She was educated in the Beaufort County School system, and after graduating from Beaufort High, attended Barber Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina. After college, Doris’s journey took her to Washington, DC where she worked for the FBI. She would later return to North Carolina where she would meet her Husband, the late John Froneberger, while working for the corporate office of National Gypsum Company. She later went on to work for the United States Postal Service for 20 plus years where she would retire from in 2017. Doris was steadfast in her walk with God and was an active member of St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents: Clinton and Florence Smalls; brothers: Clinton Smalls II, James Smalls, Richard Smalls, Gerald Smalls; and sisters: Laverne Smalls, Lillie Smalls, and Clara Smalls.

Her memory will be honored by her brothers: Joseph (Emma) Smalls and David Smalls, Sr.; her sisters: Gladys S. Pope, Rosa (Donald) McDonald, and Beatrice (Arthur, Sr.) Chaplin; her children: Chris Froneberger and Amber Froneberger; her grandchildren: John Talan Froneberger, Khari Jackson, Lance Froneberger, and Nolia Jackson; beloved niece Mortricia Smalls; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Viewing at the funeral home will be Thursday; September 16, 2021 from 5 until 8

Funeral will be Friday; September 17, 2021 at St John's Baptist Church at 1:00

Visitation is thirty minutes before the service at the church

Interment is at Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia
