June Elizabeth Jones was born on November 17, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the second child of Earl Godwin Graves and Winifred Graves. June Jones was a loving wife, mother, and career woman. She worked as the medical records supervisor at Long Island Jewish Hospital for over twenty-five years. She worked hard to support her family.

She was also a founding member of United For Christ along with her husband, Carl Jones. United for Christ was an evangelistic group formed in the 1970's whose mission was to spread the gospel of Christ with people in their communities, churches, local prisons, and hospitals. She was a mentor to many young women and men and encouraged them in their faith and their lives. She was a prayer warrior and prayed constantly for her friends and family.

June will be remembered for her strength and courage in the face of many adversities and health crises. She will be also remembered for her caring heart, her warm embrace, and her sense of humor. She was a survivor and a fighter who defied the odds most of her life.

Her eldest brother, Earl Gilbert Graves, Sr. preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sister, Sandra Graves, brother, Robert Graves, husband, Carl Jones, daughter, June Richardson, son-in-law, Charles Wesley Richardson, Jr., grandsons Charles Wesley Richardson, IV and Jayden Alexander Richardson, cousin, Joyce Williamson who was like a sister to her, nephews, Earl Graves, Jr., John Graves, Michael Graves, Jennifer Graves, and Matthew Graves.

June was a wonderful caring person. I worked with June at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York for over ten years. She was funny, smart, and a hard worker. She mentored lots of young staff and was a role-model to many. She will be truly missed by many. Wiljanda Boatwright

I never met Sister Jones personally, but indirectly through her daughter, June. June, my heart goes out to you and your family. Rest in the solace that only Jesus can provide. He is always there for you just as He has been for me during the 33 years since my mom's demise. I love you, my sister, and am praying for you and the family.

June was my dearest friend of 53 years. She was selfless, loving, kind, generous, and sweet, with a wonderful sense of humor. Minister Carl and June were instrumental in my husband Ralph and I receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. June taught Sunday school (the children) and asked me to assist her. She was loved by them. She was an excellent coach inspiring and encouraging me by saying, you can do this, She lost about 100 pounds with exercising and meal plans. She had tough love saying to me, get off your pity party and what's your problem that you can't say no! In our early beginnings as a Christians, she would invite my husband and I over to pray. Min. Carl and the 3 of us would kneel in the room and pray, and afterwards we would sit down and eat one of her delicious meals. She was a great cook. She and Min. Carl would hold a service for Ms. Gladys. They allowed relatives and friends to live with them at different times. We enjoyed going on vacations together and working in the ministry of which, June was our First Lady of United For Christ Evangelistic Team. She studied the scriptures and was relevant in presenting truth. The more I think of my friend, I realize how special she was, how much I was blessed and helped by her to grow spiritually and the advice she gave for practical living. I will truly miss my friend June, but our bond of friendship and memories will always be in my heart. This is tough and my heart is heavy, but it is joyful for her. Goodbye my friend, but hello to your new home in heaven.

Condolences to the family and my dear brother, Carl. I met my dear sister in Christ, June Jones, when I became part of United for Christ. The one thing that rings home to me is her infectious laughter - always so joyful, no matter what. The scripture says, the joy of the Lord is our strength and that certainly applied to June. She strengthen herself and those around her with her joy. You are in God's care, until we meet again. Hallelujah! Theresa Roberson

My best memory of Joan,my sister in law, was her EXTREMELY GENUINE LOVE of her ENTIRE Family: siblings, daughter & grandsons & husband including 4nephews,6great nephews & 1niece & 4great nieces. The other most memorable quality was her ability to bring JOY to you, your spirit or the moment--LAUGHTER is always the BEST medicine for our daily trails. May Joan rest in perfect peace in the Lord's comforting arms❤🙏🏽❤

June was a dear friend for over 35 years. She had such a keen sense of humor. We served together as part of the United For Christ organization. Once, when the group was to minister at a Correctional facility in Upstate New York, I had forgotten to bring appropriate clothing for the meeting. June gave me an extra dress to wear that she brought with her. It saved the day. That was June, always prepared for the unexpected. Rest in peace my dear sister in Christ, until our homecoming with the Lord.
