Obituary For Archie R. Cooper, Jr.

Archie R. Cooper, Jr. was born June 10, 1947 in Turrell, Arkansas to Archie R. and Aubra Burns Cooper. Archie was a 1963 graduate of Richard B. Harrison High School where he played drums in the marching band. Following graduating, Archie attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas and served his country in the United States Army. During the 1960’s and 1970’s Archie was very active in the Civil Rights Movement, participating in many marches and protest demonstrations. He was a founding member of Black United Youth. Archie was for the Baptist faith. Archie was preceded in death by his parents. On Friday, September 10, 2021 Archie entered into eternal rest at the Arkansas State Veterans Home in North Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 74. He leaves to cherish the memories his sisters Joyce Cooper-Hunter of Blytheville, Arkansas; Zanetta Faye Williams of Killeen, Texas; and Princess (Bobby) Hall of Manassas, Virginia; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Visitation will be held Saturday. September 18, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 12:00 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church, 600 East McHaney Street, Blytheville, Arkansas where Reverend Odale Jones is the pastor and will deliver the eulogy. Interment will take place Monday, September 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas.
