Obituary For Mr. John H. Huntley Jr.

Mr. John Horlish Huntley, Jr. son of the late John Horlish Huntley, Sr. and Etta Tyson Huntley.

John H. Huntley, Jr was born on January 1, 1945 in Anson County from the Harlem Heights community. John accepted Christ as his personal savior at a very young age where he joined the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education from the Anson County Training School. John also received his mechanical certification from Armstrong Technical School. In addition, he was certified by Walter Reed Medical Center in computer engineering. John was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1966.

John was united in holy matrimony to Barbara Bennett on June 19, 1967, and they were married for 54 years. To this union they have one daughter, Sonia L. Huntley.

He leaves to cherish his wife: Barbara Huntley of Silver Spring, MD. One daughter: Sonia Huntley of Bowie, MD; two brothers-in-law Larry Bennett (Catherine) of Monroe, NC. Derreck Bennett of Star, NC; one sister-in-law Tammy Carter of Fayetteville, NC.

John leaves two brothers: Albert Huntley (Valeria) of Washington, DC; Karey Huntley (Paula) of Charlotte, NC; and six sisters: Ruby Huntley of Wadesboro, NC; Edna Manley of Fayetteville, NC; Gwendolyn Gibbs of Fayetteville, NC; Patricia Graham of Fayetteville, NC: Audrey Lewis (Rodney) of Fort Meyers, FL, and Celeste Hough (Robert) of Wadesboro, NC. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he loved dearly.

The public viewing for Mr. Huntley will be on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 5:15-7:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home.

The Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, 11:00am, at Flat Rock 52 Memorial Park, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
