Obituary For Tena Moses Gamble

Buffalo, NY

Tena Moses Gamble, daughter of the late John Moses, Sr. and Maggie Pressley Moses was born November 6,1918 in the Cypress Fork Community of Clarendon County. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret McFadden, Mary Blanding, Martha Goodman and Lilly Carroway, three brothers, Louis Moses, Johnny Moses and Clarence Moses, a grandson reared as her own, Willie James Gamble and an additional great grandson, Ronald Green. In her youth, she joined Cypress Fork African Methodist Episcopal Church and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was a faithful member, attended Sunday School, serving on the Usher Board, sang on the choir until her health declined. She was a full time homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family and fishing with her sisters. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late David Gamble, Sr. and this union was blessed with eight children. A daughter, Mary Jane Gamble and three sons, John Gamble, David Gamble, Jr. and Levon Gamble, preceded her in death. On Sunday morning, September 12, 2021 God, who is the Maker and Creator of all creation, whispered softly to Tena Moses Gamble, “Come unto Me and take your rest”, at the home of her daughter, Rebecca Frazier, 60 Ruspin Avenue, Buffalo, New York. Those left behind to cherish the memories of Tena are her loving children, four daughters: Vermell Prince, Long Branch, NJ, Rebecca Frazier and Maggie Jagoe both of Buffalo, NY and Ella (Quincy) Miller, Sumter, SC; three grandchildren reared in the home, Deloris (Darryl) King, Manning, SC, Kenneth (Marie) Gamble, Philadelphia, PA and Quincy Miller, Jr., Delaware; one daughter-in-law, Earnestine Gamble, Darby, PA; one brother, Heyward Moses, Alcolu, SC; one sister, Aleane Hammett, Delaware; sister-in-law, Nancy Moses, Philadelphia, PA; 12 additional grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gamble were held 4:00 PM Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Hayes F. Samuels, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church Street, Manning, SC. Burial followed in the Cypress Fork AME Church Cemetery, Alcolu, SC.

The family received friends at the home of her granddaughter and her husband, Deloris (Darryl) King, 7980 Greeleyville Hwy., Manning, SC.
