Manning, SC

Louis Miller Bennett, love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Louis passed away on September 15, 2021 at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

“Louis”, son of the late Henry D. Bennett and Leola Witherspoon Bennett was born January 20, 1952 in Clarendon County.

He graduated from Manning High School and completed his Associate’s degree at Denmark Technical College, Denmark, South Carolina in Brick Masonry. After years in masonry, he further his higher learning at Clemson University. He shared his passion for learning in Masonry by teaching thousands of children over the years.

Some of Louis’ favorite things in life were his wife’s cooking, especially her chicken perlo rice and mac & cheese. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to him. He loved a quiet evening watching television with his family. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. He met the love of his life, Sylvia Baxter and this union was blessed with four children.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving wife, Sylvia Baxter of the home; four sons: Lamont Bennett, Jason Baxter, Kurt Bennett, Craig Baxter all of Manning, SC; one daughter, Nadra Baxter, Manning, SC; two sisters, Lena B. Mack and Evangelist Dora (Nathaniel) Dyson both of Manning, SC; seven grand children, Anori Parson, Javin Knox, Artorious Legrone, Jayden Bennett, Justice Bennett and Ashton Bennett all of Manning, SC; two aunts, Everlena Fleming and Mildred Nelson both of Manning, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were be held 10:00AM Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Muldrow Cemetery, Manning, SC. Rev. Dr.Frankie White,officiated, Rev. Mattie Mouzon, assistied.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the family did not receive visitors.
