Viola attended Chesterfield County Public Schools. She left school at an early age to help raise her younger siblings and take care of her ill mother. She also would help on the family farm when needed.
In her early twenties, she had her first child which she raised to be a wonderful daughter. Some years later, she packed up and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina with her late ex-husband, Eugene Redfearn. She joined Saint Luke Baptist Church.
In 1968, she had a son who was her best friend and caretaker until she went to be with the Lord.
Viola had many jobs. The last one, which she retired from, was at Belk’s Barclay Cafeteria as a line server which she enjoyed doing.
Viola leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Kelvin Lee Redfearn of the home; one daughter, Rosena Palmer (Howard) of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandsons, Chrispther A. Palmer and Franklin E. Palmer (Kendra) of Charlotte, North Carolina. All eleven of her siblings preceded her in death. She also leaves a host of sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other family and friends.
On this faithful morning, I took your hand and squeezed it and said, “Let Me Go…..I Love You.” I must close my eyes and take my last breath.
The Services to celebrate Mother Redfearn's life and legacy were held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, 1:00pm, in the Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
