Johnny B. Sears, Sr. transitioned into eternal life gaining his heavenly wings on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Johnny B was born on September 1, 1947 to the late John Brister and Willie Mae Campbell. Johnny B. was a product of the Brooks County High School School System. Where he was one of the finest, talented football players in Quitman, Georgia.
After high school Johnny B married his high school sweetheart Jacquelyn Bonner and had three children. He relocated to New Jersey, where he worked over 20 years in the transit system. Then later moved back home to Quitman, Georgia where he resided until the time of death.
John, Bee, J.B. Dad, Granddad and Uncle are all the many titles and names he wore well. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, family and friends. He was a fisherman, pool player, sports watching, card player and jokester. Johnny B. always found time for his children, whether it was long phone conversations with Tia, scratching off lottery tickets with Van or talking about sports to JJ.
Johnny B. was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbert Sears, Sonny Campbell, Doug Brister and one sister Helen Brister.
Johnny B. leaves to cherish his memory his mother: Willie Mae Campbell, three children Tia (Edward) Gibbs, Van (Kevin) McQuay, and Johnny B. Jr. (Lisa) Sears. A loving companion Sally Copeland, three sisters Dorothy (Jarvis) Travis, Gladys (Leon) Dotson and Mary F. Bristol; two brothers Oscar Campbell and Rueben (Hannah) Campbell; one sister-in-law Rose Campbell; 13 grandchildren Jay, Niesha, Jermaine, Tiarra, TiaJuana, Talisa, David, Gianna, Kiana, Amari, Dillon, Jaida and Nicholas; 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; very special friends: Willie “Buddy” Freeman and Jackie & Lonzie Gray.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11AM on the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Lawn with Apostle Dorothy Travis, eulogist.
