Obituary For Beula Lee Tutt

Beula Lee Tutt died Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Gardens of Trent Secured Assisted Living. She would have been 98 years old on October 3, 2021.

Her Memorial service is 1:30 PM, Wednesday, September 22, 2021 on the Grounds of Oscar's Mortuary. Although Beula has always been very small, she was a spunky, outspoken little lady. Example: If she went to pay her phone bill & they did not wait on her right away, she would start loudly proclaiming that they need to get more help and those who are helping should quit talking and just do their jobs.

Beula was predeceased in death by her parents, brothers and sisters and two husbands: Roosevelt Jones and Daniel Ballance.

She is survived by her husband, Handie Tutt, Jr. her niece, Mary Gooding and her great niece, Glenda Green; Glenda’s son, great great nephew, Shade Simpson.

One day at the 7th Day Adventist Church, Handie fell on the steps. Some woman screamed out “Move away from him. I will get him up and take him home with me.” Beula put some words on her. Mrs. Sadie Lovick was one of Beula’s closest friends. For years, Beula would ride with her to 7th Day Adventist Church. Beula loved spending time with Mrs. Sadie.

One of Beula’s favorite thing was to get some Bojangles chicken & biscuits and drink Mountain Dew with it. The only food she liked better was to cook up a large pot of collards, sweet potatoes & cornbread and listen to Handie talk about how good it was.

Beula never had any children; however, she looked after many children for others. The last children she looked after was Martha and Amy Phelps. She liked to call Martha “Moffie”, so Martha’s friends still call her that.

Beula thought that olive oil and rubbing alcohol were the answer to any pains, so she lavished both on her body. Beula loved to feed animals and birds to the point of having way too many squirrels hang around her apartment. Beula loved to make folks laugh and she liked to laugh (cackle) herself.

Beula and Handie watched sermons on television all day long. When the preacher prayed, she and Handie would hold their hands in the air. If anyone walked in the apartment during the prayer, it was not a good idea to interrupt.
