Handi Tutt, Jr., 96, of New Bern a native of Pamlico County died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. His wife Beula Tutt died September 18, 2021. Someone said “When Beula got to heaven, she missed Handie and in her bossy way, she said “Handie, get on up here, so he did.

His memorial service is 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at True Worshipers Assembly of Eastern N. C. 1249 Colony Drive, New Bern.

Handie was born August 2, 1925. Both his parents Handie Tutt Sr, & Missouri Gustus Tutt are both deceased. His mom, Missouri Gustus Tutt, was loved so much by her son, Handie. Handie would always say “I would never let anyone hurt my mom. It was my job to protect her.”

When Handie’s mom and dad died, his aunt told him, that it was his job to continue reading his parents’ favorite scriptures every day. Therefore he read out of his mother’s Bible in the morning and his daddy’s Bible in the afternoon. No one could interrupt him during those times.

Handie is survived by his son, Delwin West Tyre, Raleigh, NC; his first cousin Louvenia Augustus, & his 2nd cousin, Reverend Thelmond Cooper whom he loved very much.

On October 17, 2019, Handie received a LIFETIME OF HAMTONALITY CERTIFICATE, gifts, a reception and many hugs from the employees who remembered working with him. One of the CEOs said “Handie might not have been the fastest cleaner around, but when he finished, you knew everything was clean.

On November 17, 2018, he and his first cousin, Louvenia Augustus were feted as being the two oldest members in the Tutt Family

Mr. Handi, "Granddad", I am going to miss yu so much. For the last 7 months yu were apart of my everyday routine. We laughed, we talked, we prayed, sang, & just fellowshiped together. Caring for yu & Ms. Beula "MaMa", gave me so much joy. I'm so sorry I wasn't there to say goodbye, but yu know I loved yu very much. The Gardens Of Trent will NEVER be the same, I will never be the same w/o yu or MaMa B. Forever in my heart, Love- Your Tray, -aka- "Grandboy"!!
