Fred Evans

Mr. Fred Evans was born April 22, 1933 and passed away, September 22, 2021 at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta. He was a graduate of Wilkes County High School in Washington; GA.

Fred joined the Army at an early age. He was also a member of the Georgia National Guard. After retiring from the military, he honed his skills as a Master Carpenter where he eventually taught carpentry at Morgan County High School and Washington-Wilkes High School. Cabinet making was his passion and he worked until his death.

Fred was an avid storyteller and would tell his stories to anyone who would listen. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his favorite audience.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Lucille Evans and siblings Naomi, Bob and James Evans all of Washington, GA.

He leaves to cherished memories: a special person in his life, Clara West, whom he affectionately called “Grandma”; daughters, Angela Evans, of Union Point and Sherri (Samuel) Heath of Washington, Ga; siblings Jeroleen Evans of Manhattan, NY, Oris Evans of Bronx, NY and Lucious (Rosella) Evans of Newburg, NY; six devoted grandchildren: Shanaye (Dennis) Ruff, Tanishia (Curtis)Webb-Peaks, Terence Wilson, Brian (Raveen) Wilson, Adrienne Harris and Ashley Harris; eight great grandchildren: Dennis, Tyauriah, Tyonna, Jailen, Evan, Julian, Jayce and Zaria; special cousins Betty Armstrong and Nikolai Graves. He is also survived by a host of other relatives of Washington, GA. Special friends who will share his memory: Larry Campbell, Ezell Brown, Arthur Cooper, Otis Burns, Larry Alexander and Lee Thaxton.

Fred Evans was a people’s person. He never met a stranger and was loved by many.
