Obituary For Elton Sampson

Elton Sampson, 59, of Vanceboro died Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at his residence.

Viewing will be Sunday from 12:00PM-3:00 PM at Oscar's Mortuary.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sampson of the home; one son, Blue Sampson of New Bern; three brothers, Jesse Sampson, New York, NY, Kelvin Sampson of Vanceboro, Keith Sampson of New Bern, Ronnie Mills of Washington, DC; one sister, Kim Hargett of Cove City.

Masks are required and social distancing followed.

Elton, you will be surely missed. I have so many fun memories of you cousin and how helpful you have been in my life. Your great big smile is engrained in my memory and the fun we had as kids when my family visited New Bern. Playing basketball with you and Jesse was one of the fun moments as it was Kinston versus New Bern. We played our hearts out to maintain bragging rights until the next game. One other memory was when Jesse, you and I went to an all you can eat buffet and the owners threw us out as we stayed forever eating their profits away. Lastly, I remembered how you drove all the way to a town next to Kinston where I had car trouble and replaced my alternator. That was such a big help as the car was my only means of transportation. I attempted to pay you and you said with that great smile, " We are cousins, NO CHARGE" I am so grateful to have you as a cousin and I am so sad to see you leave unexpectedly, but I know that GOD has a plan for you and your life mattered here and you have given so many blessings to others. Sis. Sandra, I was almost without words after talking to Sis. Pat today. My heart hurts for your family. I met you and Bro. Elton in a hospital room at Carolina East while visiting Bro. Tommie+Sis Pat. Fist time meeting you two and it felt as if we had known each other for many years. I will never forget that night. Talking, eating together and praying. God is still great. I always try to use my light to shine in someone's dark World and that's exactly what you and Bro Elton do. Bro Elton's light shined very bright.
