Obituary For Mable Davis

Mrs. Mable Jackson Davis was born on August 28, 1920 in Hartsville, SC to Leila Bradley and Hasting Jackson. She was the eldest of seven children who were Willie Hasting Jackson, Odessa Jackson, Onelius Glenn, Rev. Lizzie Mae Poston, Rev .Jasper Hoover Jackson and Leila Frances Gillespie. All of whom have preceded her in death.

She was saved at the age of 11, joining with Snow Hill Church in Lincolnton, NC She later married Arthur Davis and to this union were seven children: Hillard Junior, Arthur Leonard, Leila Inez, Leroy Hasten, Mable Louise, Euzellia and Harlee.

Mable worked as a domestic engineer and a textile worker. After retiring from Universal Mills, she pursued her hobbies of sewing and cooking. She could be found at Southside Flea Market selling her famous apple pies and other baked goods as well as other items for over twenty-five years.

She was a devoted and faithful member of New Saint Paul FBH Church in Lawndale, NC where she faithfully served on the Mother Board, chairman of the deacon board and the missionary department for many years. She loved to sing and she loved going to church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and sons, Hillard Junior, Arthur Leonard and Leroy Hasten.

She is survived by one son, Reverend Dr. Harlee Davis of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Reverend Dr. Leila Inez Davis of Charlotte, Mable Louise Davis and Euzellia Davis of the home; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Reverend Helen Jackson and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be private. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel on Monday September 27, 2021. Burial will take place at ST. Paul FBH Church Cemetery.

To the Davis Family I remember Mrs.Mabel from the Southside Flea Market years ago I remember she made me some fried apple pies and then I would go back just to see her I can go back when I was a little girl and my grandparents live right behind her house those was so years ago over 30 or more years she will be miss for her smiles and her fried apple pies but she is in heaven now with a beautiful smile on her face I will keep you all in my prayers and my heart stay strong and God bless you all Bridgitt Y Adams
