In addition to her parents, Mrs. Manns was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Clifton Manns, Sr.; one sister, Margaret Vaughn; three brothers, John P. Craighead, James H. Baker, and Fred A. Baker.
Mrs. Manns was a faithful member of St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church. She worked as a Teacher's Aide at Newfield School, and at Remington Arms.
Mrs. Manns leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters, Ivy J. (Thomas) Hagwood and Sharon D. Powell both of Martinsville, VA, Annette L. (Carl) White of Ridgeway, VA, Denise E. (Ronald) Williams of Fieldale, VA, and Linda F. (Rufus) Irby of Collinsville, VA; two sons, Rodney T. (Margaret) Manns of Bridgeport, CT and Matthew C. (Deborah) Manns of Martinsville, VA; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; twenty-six great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances M. Green of Fieldale, VA, Carolyn R. Oakes of Bridgeport, CT, and Juanita L. Patterson of Fort Wayne, IN; four brothers, Jessie G. (Sylvia) Baker and Edmond M. (Linda) Baker both of Fort Wayne, IN, Joshua R. Baker and Willie L. Baker both of Bassett, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church, 605 John Baker Rd., Fieldale, VA, with Bishop Bobby Agnew, Eulogist. A visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Rufus Irby, 34 Meadow Lane, Collinsville, VA.
