Obituary For Mr. Willie Wilson Jr.

With sympathy United Funeral Home announce funeral service for Mr. Willie Wilson Jr.

Mr. Wilson departed this life on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in the Mary Manning Walsh Inpatient Facility in New York, New York.

He was the son of the late Willie Wilson Sr. and Rosa Carr Wilson. And the beloved husband of Sharon Rhoads Wilson.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6-8 PM in the D.L. Grate Memorial Chapel of United Funeral Home, 3731 Watson St, Loris, SC 29569.

Service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11 AM in the sanctuary of McNeil Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 370 McNeil Chapel Rd, Longs, SC 29568, Rev. Olajuwon Windley is the Pastor.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

He attended Horry County public schools where his first seven years of schooling was at Todd Swamp Colored School (Red Bluff) and he subsequently transferred to the newly established Chestnut Consolidated High School in 1954 where he graduated in 1959 and was president of the senior class. While in high school, Willie “Bill” excelled in agriculture, mathematics, and science where he often made the honor roll.

Willie “Bill” joined McNeil Chapel Missionary Baptist Church early in his life where he became the church’s secretary for many years. After graduating from high school, he moved to New York where he subsequently married his first wife, Rosabell Dinkins. From this union they had two daughters: Cynthia Wilson and Maxine Wilson of New York. After divorcing his first wife he found the love of his life, Sharon Rhoads-Wilson. God has blessed them with more than 20 wonderful years of marriage.

After laboring in the fields for others as a teenager for very low wages, Willie’s dreams and aspirations were to work in an office environment when he got out of high school. Subsequently, his dreams became a reality where he worked for the New York City Department of Social Services for more than 35 years before retiring in 2002.

Willie “Bill” was preceded in death by one sister and one brother: Lorraine Wilson-Boyd (Calvin Boyd-deceased) and Joe Grate (Gladys Grate). Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife (Sharon Rhoads-Wilson of New York), two daughters: Cynthia Wilson and Maxine Wilson of New York, two sisters: Christine Smith (James-deceased) of Longs, South Carolina and Rosa Boone (Wendell) of Longs, South Carolina. Four brothers: David Wilson (Beverly) of Conway, South Carolina, Auther Wilson Sr. (Lucille) of Loris SC, Edward “Ed” Wilson of Longs (Red Bluff) South Carolina, and Rudolph Wilson (Betty) of Detroit, Michigan. Two sisters-in-law: Seneci Marie Griffin and Lorraine Rhoads; one brother-in-law: Joseph Rhoads. He leaves behind a special and devoted niece (Hilda Hendrix of New Jersey) and also and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as the many other lives he touched.
