William attended Vocational High School in Pennsylvania and graduated in 1947. After high school, he attended the Crane Junior College in Chicago, IL. He possessed a powerful sense of duty and patriotism, joined the Air Force, and served his country for over 4 years.
William relocated to Nashville, TN where he met and married Ann Frazier. Their combined families included seven children. In Nashville, he was an active member of his community. He joined the Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and community leader. William was a mentor and an example for young men. He was an extremely sharp dresser and never missed the opportunity to put on a clean suit.
William was a joyful and friendly soul, who after the military made a career providing security for local medical facilities. William (Bill) was a sports enthusiast with a particular love for football. Nothing could get Bill more excited than a Titans touchdown or fumble recovery. He loved to laugh and was extremely kindhearted and generous. William never met a stranger, and he always went out of his way to make others feel significant. He enjoyed and loved being with family.
William leaves to cherish his memory,his wife, Ann Spraggs; one sister Leona Bucholz (Robert) of Illinois; three daughters, Debra Alex (Robert) of California, Denise Stroud (Mark) of Illinois, and Toemekia Shore (Thaddeus) of North Carolina; three sons, Danna Spraggs (Crystal) of Illinois, Roosevelt of Michigan, and Robert (Debra) of Michigan; two aunts; two uncles; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and loving friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Mr. Spraggs may be viewed on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
