Obituary For David Smith

Mr. David Smith passed Wednesday. September 29, 2021.

Mr. David Smith was born on March 28, 1934 to the late Jack and Carrie Smith in Randolph County. He worked as a truck driver until retirement. One of the things that David loved and enjoyed was playing golf. David loved being out in the fresh air and would find things to do whether it was caring for his yard with great perfection or running to the store just to be out in God’s nature. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted and loving wife, Dorothy B. Smith; two sons, Michael and Steve Smith of Winston Salem, North Carolina; his sister, Terry Gary, his brother, Wayne Smith of Greensboro, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Airreal Pierce and Brooks Smith and grandson, DJ of Greensboro, North Carolina; his stepdaughter, Wendy Shoffner of Greensboro, North Carolina; his stepsons, William Shoffner of Staley, North Carolina and Thomas Shoffner of California; a special and cherished grandson that he cared for and practically never left his side, DeSean Wiley of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

David was predeceased by his sisters, Lucille Mebane, Thelma Louise Hall, Fannie Marie Simms and his brothers, Paul Smith, Raymond Smith, and Thomas Smith.

A viewing will be held from 10am - 12pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.

Dorothy, Wendy, DeSean, Wayne and all the Smith family, we love you very much and know that God has welcomed David into heaven with open arms. Dorothy, we admire the way you made Dave a priority and cared for him so much. DeSean, you were so deep in PawPaw's heart. I know it hurts so much, you loved him so much; you were both special to each other. Wendy and Wayne, you both were always there in a second if Dave and Dorothy needed anything or in any emergency. May God bless you all to lean on His Everlasting Arm for comfort during this very difficult time. We love and care for you and please don't hesitate to call if you need anything at all. God bless all of David's family. Alim and Donna
