Mary Martin Tatum, 84, of Stoneville, died October 4, 2021. A public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m .Friday October 8, 2021, at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. he funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The burial will follow at the Martin Family Cemetery, Stoneville, NC

On Monday, October 4, 2021, God in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Mary Martin Tatum to her heavenly home. She was born in Sandy Ridge, NC on October 31, 1936, the daughter of the late James Noah Martin Sr. and the late Josephine Dalton Martin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Tatum Jr., and daughter Angela Renar Tatum; five sisters, Ollie Bell Dalton, Nannie Louise Vernon, Rosetta Brown, Lillie Marie Simmons, and Bertha Penn; and six brothers, Joe Henry Martin, John Will Martin, James Martin, Luther Benton Martin, Richard D. Martin, and Lewis Junior Martin.

Mary was a member of Martin View Primitive Baptist Church in Madison, NC. She continued her faith throughout her life. She retired from Burlington Industries after many years of service. After retirement Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Xavier “Tate” Jr., Loren (Brian), Erin (Joe), Savannah, Ty (Hannah), and Ian (Taylor) and watching her family grow with six great-grandchildren Viera, Marsha, Eroe, Emma, Ethan, and Bastian.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory four daughters: Rev. Rhonda Tatum Tucker (Billy Ray) of Madison NC, Lesa Tatum of the home, Sharon Tatum of Cary NC, and Lynda Tatum (Andre) of Franklinton, NC; two sons Xavier Tatum (Marsha) and Tyres Tatum (Julia) of Mayodan, NC; two sisters, Bernice Hairston of Spencer, VA and Beulah Griggs of Stoneville, NC; two brothers, Roy (JoAnn) Martin of Spencer, VA, and Johnny Martin of Stoneville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
