Obituary For Calbert L. Burnett

Calbert L. Burnett, 75, 0f Meadowood Trail, Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Atrium Health- Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem, NC. He was born on July 7, 1946, in Henry County, VA the son of the late John Burnett and the late Lelia Spencer Burnett. In addition to his parents, Calbert was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Burnett.

Calbert was a member of Meadow Christian Church (DOC) where he served as a Sound Technician. He was a member of the Homer Dillard Post 78, and a member of the Honor Guard. He retired from E.I. Dupont with over thirty years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran.

Calbert leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Benita Burnett; two sons, Kevin Burnett of Ridgeway, VA, and Derrik Hairston of Radford, VA; two sisters, Lois “Pete” Moore of Stoneville, NC, and Imogene B. “Gale” Preston of Preston, VA; two grandsons, Minister Troy “Chaka” Burnett of Winston Salem, NC, and Phillip Shelton of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will not be receiving visitors at the home at this time. All services are private.

To the family of "PigPen"... Cal was such a nice guy... that is until he picked up a softball bat,then is was woe unto that softball. I worked with Cal during his DuPont days, hung out with him and the guys at the service station and later in life, after DuPont, at the cruise in's. He was soft spoken but a giant of a man. You will be missed. "Pig" rest well my friend Al Adkins....

"Pig Pen" that's the name he was known by at DuPont. Such a Great Guy at DuPont and Outside of Plant. He was a Wonderful DJ at Various Functions.He Loved his Antique Cars!
