The funeral services for the late Mrs. Catherine Poke of120 Jamestown Avenue, Ashburn, Georgia, who departed this life on Saturday, October 9, 2021, will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 12:00 Noon, from the Turner County Civic Center, Ashburn, Georgia, with Elder Dr. Larry Coffee, Presiding, and Bishop Arthur West, delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Services may be viewed Facebook Live from the "Shipp's Funeral Home" Facebook page.

Ms. Catherine Poke was born on May 29, 1936 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Andrew and Mrs. Willie Francis Poke

She was educated in the Turner County Public School System.

Catherine gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the South Ashburn Holiness Church. Later in her life, Catherine joined Mt. Zion Church of God Apostolic, where she was appointed “Mother of the Church”. She was a sweet, loving, and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved her family and everybody outside of it.

Mother Catherine Poke gave up this busy walk of life on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Her parents, a daughter, Helene Poke, a son, Wesley Poke, a brother, Eddie Poke, Sr., sisters, Annie B. Hollis, Clara Wilson, Beulah Morrow, Rose Johnson, and a grandson, Demetric Poke, have all preceded her in death.

Catherine leaves to cherish her memories two lovely daughters, Brenda (Stanley) Brownlee of Ashburn, Georgia, Gennette (Jonny) of Tifton, Georgia; a son, Charles (Mary) Poke of Ashburn, Georgia; a sister, Ever Lou McCoy of Ashburn, Georgia; special sisters and brothers, Mary Steed, Robin (Robert) Magnum of Freeport, New York, Travis Teague of Lakeland, Florida, Willie Teague, Pearl Teague, Ulysses (Shirley) Teague, of Ashburn, Georgia, James Earl (Elsie) of Lithonia, Georgia, Hayward (Gloria) Teague of Ashburn, Georgia; twenty grandchildren, thirty-eight grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
