Obituary For Mrs. Delores Caruthers

On Saturday Morning April 28, 2018, Sister Delores Caruthers closed her eyes and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on June 20, 1934 in Lebanon, Tennessee to the Late Clarence and Allie Settles. She graduated from Wilson County High School in Lebanon, Tennessee where she played basketball and was the captain of her team.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the Late Edgar Earl Caruthers for 42 years. To this union were three children, four grandsons, four great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. She was a strong family woman. She and her husband were partners for life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She and her family moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida in 1958. She enrolled in nursing school and graduated as the Honor Student of her class. She loved being a nursing and she was passionate about serving others. She served as a nurse for over 44 years.

She professed a hope in Christ at the 20th Street Church of Christ and became an active member. She truly loved her 20th Street Church of Christ family and they loved her. In her latter days, she moved to Atlanta to be cared for by her son, Pastor Earl A. Caruthers, and attended his congregation, Christ the Lord Church of Atlanta, where she again became a beloved Christian.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar E. Caruthers, son Donnie A. Caruthers, and her daughter Sharon R. Caruthers.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving son Earl A. Caruthers, Sr., and wife Jacqueline Caruthers; Four grandsons Earl A. Caruthers, Jr. (Tarchell), Brian A. Caruthers (Bristie), Aaron B. Caruthers, and Asa M. Caruthers; Four great-grandchildren Adreyna Duncan, Jada Caruthers, Ethan Caruthers, Zion Caruthers. She has one great grandchild on the way by Brian and Bristie Caruthers. She has several nieces and nephews, Alicia Brooks, Wanda Stuart, James and Jonathan Tubbs, George Covington, Kevin Schwab and friend of the family, Sister Ruth Dorn was always there when she needed her.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 11:00 AM 20th Street Church of Christ 825 20th Street South St. Petersburg, Florida 33712
