~OBITUARY~

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. "Psalm 23: 1-3

Mother Maggie Copes Holmes also known as "Mutt" was born September 7, 1947, in Allendale County to the late Woodrow and the late Ruby Copes.

Her faith and belief in God expressed at an early age, when she was baptized and became a member of Gillette Baptist Church. She served faithfully until her health declined.

She was educated in the public schools of Allendale County.

Mother Holmes was united in marriage to the late Joseph Holmes in the late 1960's and to this union (2) children were born; Mark and Karen.

Anyone who knew "Mutt," knew she was a straight-up and brutally honest person. She loved who she loved and didn't mind saying who she didn't. She enjoyed riding and walking around town to visit her friends and elderly neighbors. At Pruitt Health, she would ride around to check on other residents, and made sure everyone was okay, and the staff was doing their job correctly as well. If they didn't, she would say, "I'm going to tell on you!"

On Monday, October 18th, Maggie joined her parents; (4) Brothers: Rossevelt, Murphy, Verdell, and Doc. She will rejoice with her husband; Joseph Holmes and (1) Grandson; Henry Ginn, Jr.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: (1) Son: Mark (Sheila) Holmes, Barnwell, SC; (1) Daughter: Karen Holmes, Allendale, SC; (8) Grandchildren; Deontay (Mann) Holmes, Buena Vista, VA; Tavish (Bubba) Holmes, Columbia, SC; Tiania Ginn, Orangeburg, SC; Tyrese Holmes, Barnwell, SC; Jaylen Ginn, Nyasia Ginn, both of Columbia, SC; Morgan Holmes, Aiken, SC; Melody Brown, Allendale, SC; (5) Great-Grandchildren; Devante Rasberry, Tiriana Rasberry, Kingston Doe, Niriana Doe all of Orangeburg, SC, and Tyrese (TJ) Holmes, Jr., Bamberg, SC; (2) Brothers: Brooker Tee (Geraldine) Copes, Camden, NJ, Gussie Copes, Fairfax, SC; (2) sisters: Rebecca Drayton, Camden NJ, Beartrice Mayes, Fairfax, SC; (2) Brothers-In-Law; Wilbur Holmes, Fairfax, SC, Turner Lee Holmes, Allendale, SC; (3) Sisters-In-Law: Mary Holmes, Diane (Charlie) Williams, Gladys Holmes all of Fairfax, SC; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends who she always talked about.
