Mrs. Avery, who passed on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Oak Park Nursing Home in Auburn, Alabama, was born February 23, 1942, in Lee County, Alabama.

She leaves a lifetime of precious memories to be cherished by: three children, Reginald “Reggie” Avery, Demetra “DeDe” Jackson and Lawrence “Tony” (Antaria) Avery all of Opelika, AL; six grandchildren, Trevan (Suzie) Bynum of Opelika, AL, Ramarcus (Porphyria) Bynum of Auburn, AL, Steve D. “DJ” Jackson, II, of Gardendale, AL, Mikayla Jackson of Tuscaloosa, AL, Terrell Avery of Atlanta, GA and Tia Avery of Opelika, AL; ten great grandchildren, Malachi Bynum, Kamden Bynum, Davien Kenvongsa, Shilah Kenvongsa, Trevion Bynum, Tremauri Bynum, Raheem Menefield, Janiah Menefield, Tristian Avery, all of Opelika, AL. four sisters, Juanita (Herbert) Slaughter of Opelika, AL, Reba Harden of Chattanooga, TN, Cora Swopes of Lafayette, AL, and Aritha (Terry) Hudson, Indianapolis, IN; one sister-in-law, Maxine Peters; three aunts, Malinda Kirk Blakely, Chattanooga, TN, Olivia Peters Holden, Toledo, OH, and Zelphia Peters Brooks, Elyria, OH; one uncle, Willie Peters, Fort Worth, TX; a devoted friend, Solomon Rivers, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
