Funeral service will be 12:00 noon EST, Monday, November 8, 2021 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church, Smiths, AL. Visitation will be Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Tyrone Hollis was born on Wednesday, October 28, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia to the late James Monroe Hollis and the late Cecil Victoria Davis Hollis.
Tyrone was educated in the Phenix City School System, graduating from Central High School in 1974. Later, he continued his education at Columbus Technical Institute studying tailoring.
Beginning in his youth, he held various jobs including being a longtime sales associate at Sol & Harry in downtown Columbus. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to branch out and begin his own business, eventually opening and operating Hollis & Sons Retailers. He continued to operate the business until health issues led him to retire.
Known by many in the community, he will be remembered for his love of all kinds of music, especially jazz music, his kind spirit, and his giving nature. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Cynthia, James, Jr. and Shirley; and nephew, Maurice.
He leaves precious memories with his life partner, Jacqueline; his four sons, Bruce (Brandi) Todd, Roanoke, VA, Octavius Tolbert, Lilburn, GA, Cameron Hollis, Washington, D.C. and Emerson Hollis, Hinesville, GA; two grandchildren, Malayna Todd and Keely Todd both of Roanoke, VA; close nephews and nieces, Wayne (Charlene), Shedrick, Shentel (Alph), Shemeaer, Gabrielle, James, and Michael (Keisha) and a host of other relatives and friends. ___
