Obituary For Hazel E. McClendon Swain

Hazel E. McClendon Swain, 84, passed away October 31, 2021 at her residence.

Hazel was born June 7, 1937 in Talladega, AL to the late Louie and Beatrice McClendon. She retired from Anderson Community School. She was an advocate Pacer fan, she enjoyed sitting on her porch, playing bingo, cards, dominoes and spending time with family and friends.

Hazel is survived by her sons: Dwight (Roxanne) Swain of Indianapolis IN, Shannon (Corena) Swain and Donald Swain of Anderson, IN; step-children, James Swain, Timothy Swain and Keith Swain of Anderson, IN and John (Cantrell) Swain of Atlanta GA; daughters, Phoebe (Lee) Jones and Angela McClendon of Anderson, IN; step-daughter, Donna Swain of Anderson, IN; god-daughter, Jacqueline McClendon of Arcadia, IN; sisters, Christine Allen of Anderson IN, Mary Ann (Reuben) Gray and Winnie Cameron of Talladega, AL; brothers, James (Gloria) McClendon of Talladega, AL, Larry (Myra) McClendon of Covington, GA and Lawrence McClendon of Oakland, CA; brother-in-law, John (Yvonne) Swain of Cleveland, OH; special friends, Daisy Holt and Mildred Turner; forty-five grandchildren; sixty-five great grandchildren; two great-great grand children; and a host of family and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, James Swain Sr.; her parents, Louie and Beatrice McClendon; step-son, Robert Swain; sisters, Beulah Posey, Nora Bell and Willie Gresham; brothers, Jimmy McClendon, Marvin McClendon and Lonnie McClendon; granddaughter, Dytika Wilkerson; and grandson, Don-tre'el Swain.

Service will be noon Monday, November 8th at Miracle Faith Temple Church, 1501 Hendricks St., Anderson, IN with visitation 2 hours prior to service. Interment will be at Pleasant Walk Cemetery.
