On February 24, 1950, in Clay County, Alabama, Luke Turman and Sarah Lee Nunn Turman welcomed a son, Jerry Lee, to their family.
Love, faith, dedication and the belief in Jesus Christ’s teachings and saving grace led Mr. Turman to worship at New Hope Baptist Church and serve as a deacon. He was a graduate of Clay County Training School. Jerry was known for his work as a car salesman in the Clay County community. Although Jerry favored Auburn football, he had a love for Alabama football. He also found joy in tennis and landscaping. On August 4, 1973, Jerry took the hand of the former Mammie L. Simmons and before God they made a commitment to each other to remain in holy covenant until death did they part.
On Saturday, November 6, 2021, the Lord saw that Mr. Turman was tired and called him home to rest. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Luke and Sarah Turman; and two siblings, Bennie James Turman and Fannie Harvey. Cherished memories will remain in the hearts his loving wife of 48 years, Mammie L. Turman; one daughter, Tara (Carlos) Jackson; two grandchildren, Shanequa (Jeremy) Springer and K. J. Jackson; one great grandchild, Paisley “Princess P.” Springer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
