Obituary For Pink Hunt

Mr. Pink Lee Hunt, Jr., 79, of Shelby, NC left his earthly life on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He was born on September 8, 1942, in Cleveland County, NC to the late Pink Lee Hunt and Edna Lattimore Hunt. He married Pearline Padgett, the love of his life, at the age of 19 on July 7, 1962. This union was blessed with three beautiful daughters.

Mr. Hunt faithfully served on the deacon board, usher board, and male choir at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church for over 20 years. He previously attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church as a deacon and Eskridge Grove Baptist Church. In addition to putting God first in his life, Mr. Huntโ€™s family was always his top priority. He retired from PPG/Azdel in 2005, where he worked as a Maintenance Technician for 40 years.

Those left to cherish the memories and continue the legacy of Deacon Pink Lee Hunt, Jr.: his loving wife and soulmate of 59 years, Pearline Padgett Hunt; two daughters, Darlene Hunt Mitchell (Sean) of Acworth, GA, and Mechelle Hunt Bennett (Jerry) of Charlotte, NC; one son-in-law, Calbert Vernard Downs of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren: Calbert Vernard Downs II of Greensboro, NC; Lance Brandon Downs of Durham, NC; Sean Alexander Mitchell of Acworth, GA; Alexis Hunter Mitchell of Charlotte, NC; and Jerry Bennett III of Charlotte, NC. One great-granddaughter Ezra Randi Downs of Greensboro, NC. One brother, William J. Hunt of Englewood, NJ, and one sister, Maggree Hunt of Shelby, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hunt will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church in Patterson Springs, NC. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church on Thursday and at the home, 2322 Mason St. in Shelby from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday and Wednesday.
