Obituary For Dorothy Williams

Dorothy Williams, aka Dot, was born and reared in Gastonia, NC. She was the mother of 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls and grandmother of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She worked mostly in the textile and fabrication industry. She loved hosting family and friends for gatherings such as luaus and holiday celebrations. Her spirit lit up any room she entered. She was the life of the party. If you ever came in contact with her, she was sure to make you smile and laugh. Leisurely, she loved to organize group excursions. Her life was filled with love, She was Love.

Dorothy Faye Williams (Durham) was born July 24th, 1947. Her soul departed this Earth on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Mildred Durham Eaves, her late father, Leroy Durham, her late husband, Leonard Williams (Sonny), her late life-long friend and ex-husband, Samuel Hatten Jr. (Tammy), and their beloved son, Theron Hatten. She is also preceded in death by her late sisters, Ruth Durham and Elizabeth Sharpe, late brothers, James Durham and David Durham and her nieces, Charlene and Laketha (Baby), and her nephew, Ron Durham (Boss).

She leaves behind five children; Helene Tyson, Samuel Hatten Sr., Charissa Hatten, Jerry Hatten, and Bridget Hatten. She also leaves behind six sisters and three brothers; Mary Ann Friday, Helen Long, Doretha Shanks, Patricia Durham, Mable Ann Durham, Janice Brown, Ronnie Durham, Marcus Durham, and Dwight Durham. Dorothy leaves behind 19 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing at the funeral home on Saturday; November 13, 2021 from 3 until 7

Funeral on Sunday; November 14, 2021 at the funeral home with service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with thirty minute visitation

Interment: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia
