Obituary For John Hayes

John Thomas Hayes was born on February 13, 1946 in Guilford County, NC to the late John Henry Hayes and Theresa Brooks Hayes. He passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021.

John attended Fair Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Summerfield, NC at an early age. He was educated in Guilford County Schools and graduated from James Benson Dudley High School in 1964. John served in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged. After serving his country, he worked at Cone Mills Trucking Division and retired after 42 years. John married Georgia Ingram Hayes on September 19, 1967, and they had two wonderful children. They recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. John leaves cherished memories to his wife, Georgia I. Hayes of the home; his children, Rodney Hayes (Trina) of Greensboro, NC and Kristy Hayes Smith (Kendrick) of Severn, MD; grandchildren, Marcellous Williams of Charlotte, NC, Akanni Hayes of Ypsilanti, MI, Asha Hayes of Greensboro, NC, Jamila Hayes of Winston-Salem, NC, Hadiya Hayes (Diana) of Kernersville, NC, Barika Hayes, Zafirah Hayes , Gyasi Hayes, all of Greensboro, NC, and Immanuel Smith of Severn, MD; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by: his mother and father, his brothers, James Hayes, Jerome Hayes and Eddie Smith. He is survived by his brothers, Jerry Hayes of Whitmire, SC and Raymond Featherstone (Macarena) of Spain and sisters, Billie Johnson of Summerfield, NC, Mary Sue Warren of Kernersville, NC, Inez Clay and Yvonne Vines (Ronald), both of Greensboro, NC.

Family and friends will cherish the moments they spent with John.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 10am on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Cassie Coote- Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
