Phillip Harold Tate, of Gastonia, North Carolina, was born in York County, South Carolina on April 21, 1957. Phillip was the son of the late Sam and Hattie McDowell Tate. He departed from his earthly home on Tuesday; November 9, 2021.

Phillip was educated in the York County School system and worked for many years in the textile industry. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Billy Tate and a son: Wiley Martin.

He leaves to cherish fond memories to his two sons: Brian Spindler and Phillip Martin of Gastonia, North Carolina and three daughters: Sheila Lindell and Kisha Hill both of Charlotte, North Carolina and Ashley Tate of Gastonia, North Carolina; three brothers: Robert McDowell (Margie), Donald McDowell (Peggy) and Sammie Tate; two aunts: Helen Barrow and Ozella Robbins both of Gastonia, North Carolina and a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing at the funeral home on Saturday; November 13, 2021 from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m.

Funeral on Sunday; November 14, 2021 at Holy Jerusalem Church, Gastonia at 2:00 p.m. with thirty minute visitation before the service.

Interment: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia
