Obituary For Othelia Arnold

Othelia Cherleen Arnold, lovingly known as Otelia and “T” of Gainesville, Florida passed away after a short illness on November 6, 2021, at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida.

Othelia was born August 21, 1955, to the Late Pelmon A. Arnold, Sr. and David Lee Johnson Arnold.in Palatka, Florida. She graduated from Hastings High School in the Class of 1973. She attended FAMU of Tallahassee, Florida and graduated from Santa Fe College, Gainesville, Florida with an Associate of Arts Degree.

Othelia was a faithful member of Mt. Zion AME Church, Hastings, Florida where she served on the Trustee Board and a faithful and dutiful member of the Hospitality Board. She was under “Watch Care” since 2017 with “The Church of the Living God Pillar & Ground of the Truth” under Minister Carl Williams, Gainesville, Florida. She participated in the CLG Women Group. Othelia established a business in 2007. A&A Consumer Concepts, Inc. A Group Home for the Developmentally Disabled as an agency with the State of Florida.

Preceding Othelia in death are her Parents, Brother, Pelmon A. Arnold, Jr., The Love of Her Life, Earnest L. Hill, Sr., Stepmother, Alice A. Arnold; and James Simmons, Sr.; granddaughter, Treasure PM Evans, but lives on in our hearts.

Othelia leaves to cherish her memories three children, Gregory A. Evans, Sr. (Reshonda); Earnest L. Hill, II and Jocelyn M. Hill, all of Gainesville, Florida. Proud Grandmother of three G’ontei Evans; Earnest L. Hill, III and J’Air E. Hill, all of Gainesville, Florida. Sister, Aurora E. Arnold of Gainesville, Florida; Uncle, Hercules Arnold (Tina) of Ocala, Florida. Aunt to Yanetta A. Smith, (William, Jailyn, Josiah) of St. Augustine, Florida; David K. Turner, Jr., of Gainesville, Florida, and Pelmon A. Arnold, III (Phame and Phortune) of Palm Coast, Florida. God Mother to Contelnique Goode, Ammorine Cooper, Jason Johnson and Tanya Hall all of Gainesville Florida. Loved Ones; Nettie J. Brown, Atlanta, Georgia; Betty A. Wright, Renee Wilson, Clarence Cooper of Cocoa, Florida; Andrea Calloway, Tavares, Florida, Ollie Rose King, Monticello, Florida; Betty Arnold, South Carolina; Marie Dozier, North Carolina; John Evans, Georgia; and Linda Goff, South Carolina. Special Lifelong Friends are Stafford Easterling, Florida; Ronell Aycox; Cardellya Mathis; Elmira Goode; Renae Palmer; Tina Scott, Tamara Bowen of Gainesville, Florida, and LaBarbara Goode of Georgia. A Hosts of Cousins, Friends, Classmates, Co-Workers and Loved Ones too many to mention, all of whom will miss her dearly.

I cannot recall a single memory in my child/ adulthood, without my Godmother in it. Having her meant that I had a bonus mom, who was always there to support, instruct, and love me and my entire family as well! She was a beacon in my life, and I am going to miss her dearly.
