It's sad to hear that Barbara has passed. But oh, how she lived! She has touched so many other people's lives for so long that her influence, her love, and the changes she brought about for others will be with us for a long, long time. I met Barbara when we both volunteered with Coastal Women's Shelter. She was a light and a role model for both the clients and her fellow volunteers. I feel fortunate to have worked with her. Ben, I was so sorry to read about the loss of your wife, Barbara. What a delightful lady she was. We met when my husband and I visited your home to pick up our knee scooter that your daughter needed for several months after surgery. Please call if we can help you in any way. We are in FH. Mr. Watford and family: My wife and I are saddened to hear of Mrs. Watford's passing. Your father was my chemistry teacher at Smithtown High School on Long Island a vey long time ago and that is why he is always "Mr. Watford" to me. My very good friend Dennis Pymm had the same class and - when he and his wife moved down to New Bern several years ago - he discovered his HS teacher once again. We visited Mr. Watford 2 years ago during my visit to New Bern. It was then I had the all too brief pleasure of meeting your Mother. She was charming. She and my wife have shared the (un)common experience of having husbands who love books. Pat & Mary Hays

Ben. I was so sorry to learn about the passing of your beloved wife Barbara. I only met her once briefly when Pat Hays and I came to visit your home just after you moved back after Florence, but I could tell that she, like you, made a difference in the many lives she touched the past 91 years. I know how hard it will be for you now that she is gone, but treasure all the time you spent together all these years. Dennis Pymm
