Mrs. Cecilia R. Nicholson

Cecilia Rose Dumas Nicholson was born on April 18, 1956 in Montgomery County, NC.

She grew up in Ingram Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church as a child. She received her education at West Montgomery High School, Class of 1974. She worked as a Home Health Care worker at Family First for around 12 years, giving care to the elderly.

Affectionately known as “Mae,” she loved cooking, singing, and good smelling perfume. She was a devoted member of Mountain Grove Ingram Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as President of the Choir, President of the Stewardess Board, and on the Kitchen Committee. She loved singing “Whatever You Need, God’s Got It.” She will be missed by her church family for her fashion flare in hair and dress but most of all her love of family.

Preceding in death were her parents, Elijah and Alice Alberta Dumas and a stepdaughter, April Christian.

She was married to Michael Nicholson of Mt. Gilead, NC.

She leaves to cherish her memories: One Daughter, LaKisha Dumas (of the home); Two sons, Antonio Dumas (Chasity Stanback) of Mt. Gilead, NC and Jonathan Dumas (Yolanda Little) of Mt. Gilead, NC. Ten grandchildren: Ty’Quavious Smith, Tre’Najha Little, Kaylani Dumas, Antonio Dumas, Jr., Amahd Dumas, Ny’Asia Dumas, Jonathan Dumas, Jr: Ja’Zion Moore, Destiny Miller, Martavious Parks and Ja’Keceya Dumas.

Siblings: Five Sisters: Louise Fee (Charles) of Greensboro, NC, Eunice Parker of Mt. Gilead, NC, Elaine Hinson of Troy, NC, Bertha Jean Moore of Pleasant Gardens, NC and Amy Dumas of Albemarle NC; Four Brothers: David Dumas, Delbert Dumas, Marvin Dumas all of East Orange, New Jersey and Robert Dumas of Mt. Gilead, NC. One Uncle, Asia (Shirley) Dumas of Mt. Gilead, NC.

Her Caregiver, Ms. Faye Mangum; A close friend, Dale Little Watkins, Goddaughter, Khadijah McAuley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Homegoing Services were held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, 11:30am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment followed in the family plot of Ingram Chapel AME Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina.
