Sister Parson introduced me to "walking" for exercise in 1983! I had surgery that year and she came to see me, she said " if you are willing to do the work, it will help you to heal that much faster, it will be hard at first but if you will put one foot in front of the other; soon you will be able to tell the difference" l took her at her word and started the very next day.
