Obituary For Lula Mae Williams

Lula Mae Williams was born on December 9, 1946 to Sam Chappell, Sr. and Ola Mae Chappell-Cary in Rutherford, Alabama. She attended Russell county schools. She enjoyed the life of a country girl. Lula Mae enjoyed the outdoors of farming and fishing. There was nothing she wouldn't do to lend a helping hand to others. Later in her adult life, Lula Mae and her children moved to Espanola, FL. She was a loving Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend to many. In 1989 she married Horace Williams. She was known by many as Mrs. Nug and the Candy Lady, but best known for her famous Push-ups.

Lula Mae accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She served as a faithful member and usher for the Mt. Missouri Baptist Church in Rutherford, Alabama until moving to Florida. Once Lula Mae settled in Espanola, FL, she continued to serve on the usher board and was a faithful member at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church until her death.

On Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Stuart F. Myer Hospice House in Palm Coast, FL where she was loved and cared for by her family, Lula Mae’s eldest granddaughter Quannesia Patterson and her eldest great-grandson Frederick Walker, Jr. were by her side when she gained her Wings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta Ann Patterson McCaster; brothers, Henry Lee Jones and Sam Chappell, Jr.; son-in-law, Stevie Anderson; brother-in-law, Edward Dix; great-grandson, Morris Henderson, III; special stepmother, Elsie Chappell.

Lula Mae leaves to cherish her memories: A loving and devoted family and husband Horace Williams (Bubba), Seven Children: Jackie Anderson, Palm Coast, FL; Janice Chappell, Jacksonville, FL; Diane Patterson, Atlanta, GA; Deloris Smith (Kelvin), Palm Coast, FL; Curtis Patterson Jr. (Miyosha), Lakeland, FL; Leon Chappell and Tyrone Patterson Sr, both of Suwannee, FL; Three Step Children: Johnny Williams, Jacksonville, FL; Sharon Smith, Daytona Beach, FL; Ann Williams, Fortson, GA; Two Brothers: Willie James Chappell (Sarah) Columbus, GA; Kevin Chappell, Espanola, FL; One Sister: Annie B. Dix, Phenix City, AL; Two Brothers-in-Law: James C. Willimas, Bunnell, FL; Curtis Williams, Melbourne, FL; Five Sisters-in-Law: Margarie Lovett, Melbourne, FL; Roberta (Jesse) Giddeons, Orlando, FL; Catherine Whitty, May Frances (Willie) Patterson and Carolyn Ranson all of Daytona Beach, FL; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren (2 in utero); one special great-grandson: Frederick Walker, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
