Obituary For Lee Ernest Murray, Sr.

Manning, SC

Lee Ernest Murray, Sr. was born in the Foreston Community of Clarendon County on December 29, 1946. He was one of eleven children of the late Leo Murray and Mary Jane Green Murray. Lilllie Mae Murray, Lillie Bell Murray, Etta (Sammy) Washington, Martha (Joe) Sabb preceded him in death. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and graduated from Manning Training School in 1966. Ernest, as he was called, accepted his Lord and Savior at an early age at Holy Rock Holiness Church in Foreston, South Carolina. He was also a member of the singing quartet, The Gospel Four, of Manning South Carolina. He was employed at AirCap Industries of Manning, South Carolina for twenty-six years as a machine operator and worked in the maintenance department at Midwest Stamping, Sumter, South Carolina as a die setter for eighteen years. Ernest was also employed at Scott’s Fast Break, Manning, South Carolina for ten years. He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Leila Margaret White Murray. On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, Ernest answered his Master’s call. He leaves to cherish his memories; a loving son; Lee (La-Sonja) Murray, Jr.; a loving daughter; Alicia (Ronnell) Washington both residing in Charlotte, NC; two sisters; Ethel L. Murray of Richmond, VA and Virginia (Woodrow) Ragins of Manning, SC; four brothers: Alfred Murray, Pastor Kenneth (Ethel) Murray, and John Allen (Everlena) Murray all of Manning SC; Minister Solomon (Gail) Murray of New Orleans, LA; two sisters in law, Hulean (William) Burgess of Philadelphia, PA and Mary (George) King of Manning, SC; one grandson; Jourdan Shepard of Lawton, OK; five granddaughters, Deizmond Kelly of Manning ,SC, Alexia Davis, Madison Murray, Isley Washington, and Julian Murray all of Charlotte, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Mr. Murray were held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Junky Yard Cemetery, Manning, SC. Pastor Kenneth Murray, officiated.
