I met Michael and his late brother Arthur Langford in the early eighties.Rev.Arthur Langford, was a fixture at Rush Memorial Church, which was pastored by the late Civil Rights giant the late Rev.Joe Boone.Additionally,Arthur, would frequent my neighborhood, visiting a neighbor often and sometimes Michael would be with him.Michael, was a fixture at city hall during former Mayor Bill Campbell's administration and he was always on the front line helping "the least of these."He and former councilman Derrick Boazman, would be seen together at Mt.Pleasant Baptist Church as well.He was sent as a Servant,to serve and not to be served. To my former co-worker,Cathy Lindsey,Michael, fought a good fight and he finished his race,he kept the faith, now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to him on that day.Keep looking to the hills from which cometh your and your family's strength.Eugene Pitts

I am so sorry to hear of Michael's death; the comments from friends and relatives show what a great man that he was. I would like to comfort the family and assure them that they will see Michael again; please turn in your bible and read Acts 24:15, which reads: "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous". What is this scripture saying? One day soon, all of our dead loved ones will rise from the grave, no matter if they practiced good or bad. Jehovah God will bring them back to life from the grave to be with us again; but where will this resurrection take place? Please visit jw.org to find the answer to this question.

Mike I met you for a 15 min. interview on a Saturday at City Hall where I reported the following Monday as your Assistant in the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs. This began my extraordinary career where you then moved me to the Mayor's Suite for a promotion as an Executive Assistant in the Chief of Staff's Office. I learned so much from working with you where you taught me the importance and beauty of serving our constituents in our beloved Atlanta. It was my honor and such a joy for me. You were a giant when it came to serving the community throughout the City. My heart is heavy and you will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers to Mikey, Arthur, Gloria Tracey and the entire Langford Family and friends. "Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot Heal". Rest in Peace. - Patricia (Pat) Vaughn and Family

As a member of Mike's Bi-Centennial Class of 1976 of Luther Judson Price High School,I want to extend my most sincere condolences to his family, friends and loved ones during this most difficult time. Mike was a leader in high school, so we knew early on that he would go on to do great things. Some of us thought he would go into politics, but God had a greater calling on his life that included community work particularly with young people. Thus the creation of the United Youth Adult Conference. Mike had a passion for making sure our youth we're on the pathway to success. He didn't just talk the talk but he walked the walk. Once his work was complete, the Lord saw fit to call him home. So I say farewell and well done good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things and God made you ruler over many. You've left a huge legacy of service behind. Now it's up to us to keep running. Thank you for showing us your whole life what service looks like. Godspeed to you dear Wildcat and fellow classmate!!

Everyday my aunts and cousins and family would know we would receive a gospel song from way back in the day or an inspiring word from Uncle Michael reminding us of how good God is. He attributed his faith & love of God to his mother and father Florence and Arthur Langford Sr. Thank you God for lending us Uncle Michael just for a little while. 🙏🏿 Because of him we know for sure that God is a compassionate and gracious God, abounding in love and faithfulness🙏🏿

Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
