Obituary For Mr. Vincent Lionel Clark

Vincent Lionel Clark transitioned from this earthly place on November 18, 2021.

“Vince” was born on August 21, 1963, to Alfred Judge Clark and Creola Rush Clark in Albemarle, NC. He was a 1982 graduate of South Stanly High School where he found his love for cars and upholstery. He would go on to become an upholsterer by trade and subsequently, the owner of Thompson’s and Clark’s Upholstery in Norwood, North Carolina.

A member of the H.C. Smith Funeral Home family, Vince worked faithfully with Mr. Harold Smith for 30 years.

Vincent was a member of the Bennettsville A.M.E. Zion Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board, Senior Choir Member, and a part of the church’s Cemetery Committee. A servant of the community, Vince was also a mentor at Norwood Elementary School and the community at large. He was also a member of the Stanly County Historical Society.

Vincent was proceeded in death by his father, Alfred J. Clark, and brother, Alfred Douglas Clark.

He is survived by his mother, Creola Clark and two sisters, Cathy Holland and Cynthia Williams of Norwood, NC, four nieces, Edwyna W. Brooks (Anthony) and Melinda W. Nixon (Dwayne) both of Hawaii, Brittany W. Bennett (Jeremy) of Norwood, NC and Kia M. Clark of Charlotte, NC, great-nieces, Oslyn and Maliyah, great nephews, Aiddan, Trendan, Jeremy Jr., Khai, and Anthony II.

He was joined in marriage to Ladonna Townsend Clark and later in love to Dorla Allen Clark, her son, Darius Allen and grandson, QuaDarius Griffin. He will also be remembered fondly by close friend, Roxie Mask.

Vince and his memories will also be cherished by uncles, James Clark, David Clark (Marie), Karo Crump, Alexander Dumas (Ruby), Russell Dumas (Barbara); aunts, Pam Clark, Mattie Clark, Betty Smith, Bernice Colson, Nadine Clark, Nan Boggan (Fletcher), Sylvia Leake, Leola Clark, Daisy Rush, and Julia Rush.

The Homegoing Services were held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, 11:00am, Smith’s Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment followed in the Clark Family Plot of Bennettsville AME Zion Church, Norwood, North Carolina.

I remember when Vincent and I rode through Norwood in his black VW bug when I was about 14 years old. We have a lot of good memories from Uncle Ed's upholstery shop which Vincent later purchased.
