OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Emmanuel Church of God In Christ, 1127 N. Market St., Opelousas, LA for Mr. Herbert Lee Mickens, III, 36, who entered eternal rest Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Elder Paul Gatlin, Pastor of Emmanuel Church of God In Christ, will be officiating the funeral service.

Herbert Lee Mickens, III accepted Christ at an early age and had a personal relationship with Him. He was musically gifted in instruments and vocals. Herbert was affectionately known as “Lil Herb” by his family and friends and “G-Que Mickens” in the Southern Soul Music industry.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Crystal Mickens, two sons, Amar’e Isaiah Mickens and Aaron Akeem Mickens, two daughters, Arianna Ja’Nae Mickens and Aaliyah Tiana Mickens, all of Sunset, LA; ; his parents, Alaina and Elder Herbert Lee Mickens, Jr. of Opelousas, LA; two brothers, Jared (Chelsea) Mickens, Sr. and Minister JaMaal (Alma) Mickens, both of Opelousas, LA; his God-Mother, Dolita Sheppard of Opelousas, LA; two nephews, Jared Mickens, Jr. and Jarden Mickens, both of Opelousas, LA; one niece, Jaryn Mickens of Opelousas, LA; his mother-in-law, Shelia Sarile of Opelousas, LA; brother-in-law, Tony Allen, III of Opelousas, LA; sister-in-law, Claudia Allen of Opelousas, LA; and a host aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elder Melvin Villery, Sr. and Clydia Villery and his paternal grandparents, Herbert Lee Mickens, Sr. and Josie Mae Mickens.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Emmanuel Church of God In Christ.
