Mr. Ricky Dean Curtis

Passed 11/25/2021

Mr. Ricky Dean Curtis transitioned from this earthly life to his Heavenly home on Thanksgiving night, November 25, 2021, at his father’s residence. He was born on May 7, 1962 in High Point, NC to Reverend B. D. Curtis and the late Bettye S. Curtis. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Curtis; a sister, Robin L. Curtis; paternal and maternal grandparents; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ricky attended the Guilford County Public Schools, and was a graduate of Northwest Guilford High School, Class of 1980, where he played basketball and football. He continued his education at what is now Guilford Technical Community College, where he obtained an Associate’s Degree in Electronics.

Ricky was most recently employed with Pratt Display in Whitsett, NC. He was a dedicated and faithful worker at all of his places of employment: Nachman, Piedmont Triad International Airport, Levolor, Market America, UBER, and LYFT, to name a few. Ricky enjoyed and made time for his favorite extracurricular activities, one of which was bowling. He participated in leagues and tournaments over the years. His most recent interest was golf, and he traveled to many courses with his buddies. Ricky made many lasting friendships throughout his 59 years. He was known to be a great guy. He was witty and charming. He was one that “walked lightly but carried a big stick.” Ricky was soft spoken, but intentional. He loved to sing and was affectionately called “Luther” by many family members and friends. He had many impromptu requests and he always obliged. All you needed to do was name the tune.

Ricky was a faithful and lifelong member of Foster Grove Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and Gospel Choir Member.

Ricky loved his family and leaves to cherish dear memories: his father, Reverend B. D. Curtis; one sister, Kimberly Curtis of High Point, NC; two sons, Byron Miller and Jamall Miller, both of High Point, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Foster Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Due to COVID 19 everyone in attendance please wear a mask.
