Obituary For Douglas McArthur Carter, Sr.

Douglas Carter, 78, of Ruffin, NC passed November 29,2021. A public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2,2021 at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. The family will receive friends from1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 03, 2021, at the Chapel Hill Primitive Progressive Baptist Church sith the funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m., burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Douglas McArthur Carter, Sr., son of the late Mary Magalene Clark Carter and Aldolphus Carter, was born on August 1, 1943. On Monday, November 29, 2021. Douglas also known as “Mack” transitioned and departed this life surrounded by his wife and children.

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County and was a farmer for more than 30 years. Although he was retired, he still enjoyed helping on the farm, gardening, fishing, hunting and working on lawnmowers. He mostly enjoyed spending quality time with his kids and grandkids that was the highlight of his day. Especially, his great granddaughter, Jordyn “BooBoo” Bradshaw, as only he could call her. Even though his physical presence is no longer with us, we thank God for his love, joy and faithfulness.

In addition to his parents “Mack” was preceded in death by siblings, Beulah Carter, Roosevelt Carter, Sylvia Watlington, Junior Carter and Joe Louis “Doug” Carter.

His legacy of love, happiness and faithfulness will continue through remaining loved ones: his beloved wife of 54 years; Jennie Bell Jumper Carter, children; Lindsey L. Hayes (Norma), Douglas M. Carter, Jr., Teresa Carter panel (Douglas), Pamela Carter Price (Lester), 5 grandkids; Jermaine L. Carter, Christopher O. Carter (Balaun), Lindsey L. Hayes, Jr., Trenellia Hayes Whittaker and Jasmine K. Price. 10 great grandkids, 1 great great granddaughter, sisters; Mary L. Broadnax, Gloria J. Miller, Cassandra Carter, Alice Martin (Jerome) and Lillie Butler. Brothers; Bobby Carter and Samuel Carter, special friends; Jerry Powell and James Powell a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hi, I'm going to miss my cousin, cause he was always making me laugh whenever I came to his house for them great turnip greens and Jerry my brother always used his big black pot to fry fish. Mack fought a good fight and now he can rest in peace. I will always keep the family in my prayers.
