Mr. Willie Ray Guyton was born on June 27, 1949 to Mr. Joseph & Ruth Guyton in Winfield, Alabama.
As a child he was a member of Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jarrett. As an adult, he served faithfully at the Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jolly Turner as Treasurer. He then united with Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Posey where he served as a Deacon in 2018.
He graduated from Carver High School in 1967. He furthered his education at Gadsden State Community College in 1976 and received an Associate Degree in 1978. He attended Gadsden State Technical Institute and received a certificate in Automotive in 1978, cabinet making in 1980.
Willie was drafted in the U.S. Army and served from 1969-1975 and served during Vietnam War for three tours, receiving many awards including Army Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, and an Honorable Discharge on December 4, 1975.
On November 3, 1972, he entered into Holy Matrimony with the love of his life for 49 years married and 54 years together in all, Mrs. Annie Jean Buckner Guyton.
He gained employment at Alagasco in 1977 and retired in 2004.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Joseph & Ruth Guyton, Sylvester “Sonny” Davis , Joseph Guyton Jr., Rod Freeman Jr., Laysander and Emma Buckner.
He leaves a lifetime of memories to cherish with: His wife, Mrs. Annie Jean Guyton; Daughters, LaSandra Guyton, Krystle Guyton Freeman (Rod), April Guyton; Sister, Annie Ruth Guyton; Chosen sisters, Debra Spears, Ethel Winlock, and Frances Love; Chosen daughters, Towanna Wilson, Sharita (Princeton) Carlisle, and Ceandra James Ramirez; Chosen sons, Douglas Guyton, Orlando Isom and Rod Freeman Sr. Grandchildren, Rod A. Freeman III, Em’Maya Freeman, Krystiana Freeman, Dayun Wyatt, Taurya Wilson, Taurus Wilson Jr., Emmanuel Freeman, Keona Guyton; Special friends, Willie Sayles, Charles Hicks, Andre Thrash, William Wesson, Neretta Hardy, Anthony Cylar, Wilbert Gadson, Jarome Vaughn, Roderick (Patricia) Ferguson, and Vernon (Mickey) Herron. A host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be Friday, December 3, 2021, 12 noon-5pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 12 noon at the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Eulogist: Pastor Willie Simmons. Interment: Oaklawn Cemetery
